The neighbourhood we will be walking through is home to lots of new immigrants from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and other areas. These immigrants often have to start a new life from scratch, and don't have too many connections to help them along. Lots of families live in crowded apartments because there is no other option for them.
With recent talks of public schools closing down and consolidating, many elementary and high school students will be displaced and have to rebuild their social circles once more. However, there are a few efforts in the area to meet the many needs of the community, from affordable groceries at Nations and The Mustard Seed Co-op, to government-funded nursing homes for the elderly, and many Good Shepherd services too.
Come pray with us for regular Christians to move into this neighbourhood to be witnesses of the hope that Jesus offers.
